About

the Living in Herban Paradise blog by Paradise City Herbal

My husband and I grow herbs, veggies, flowers and mushrooms on our .12 acre lot just 2/3 mile from the center of a bustling New England college town known for its vibrant music and arts scene. A student of herbalism, I use the herbs I grow to make bodycare and soaps, as well as for food and medicine.

Here I talk about working to transition the garden into a thriving micro-farm, my passion for organics & natural bodycare, D.I.Y. herbal crafting, and how my personal and professional pursuits have merged.

The garden has been keeping me so busy the past few weeks that I've not had any time to spend online. I'm way late updating this blog and haven't even posted my August newsletter yet!

I'm a Facebook neophyte and am only just learning how to use it so didn't suffer any withdrawal there, but I really missed my friends on Twitter. (hook up with me if you'd like to feed these growing addictions, lol!)

Big news from the garden is that the late blight is here, so it's buh-bye tomatoes..... The cool nights and endless rain that encouraged the blight sure was good to the mints though! Just trimming between rainstorms has given me more mint than I know what to do with :>>

Happily, more herb than I know what to do with is a fun challenge to learn more ways to use that herb! Right now, I only use my mint for tea and soap. I'm seeing new minty face scrubs, colognes and soap blends in my very-near-future!

Coincidentally, a new batch of my always-popular, handcrafted Rosemary Mint soap has just finished curing and is ready for sale: 20% off 'til the end of the month!
